52 Lists || Week 16 & Some Exciting News!

I love the weekly ritual of sitting down to write out these lists. It gives me some time to slow down and reflect. I am so happy I found Moorea Seal's 52 Lists Project! This week was "List your favorite books". I am an avid reader. I spend most of my childhood tucked away in a fort or in my bed reading books nonstop for hours. In Elementary school we had a program where you read books every week, get prizes and at the end of the year they had a huge assembly where the top readers would get medals and the principal had to do some kind of funny thing like kiss a pig on the roof. (yes that happened). It was no problem for me to earn that medal every year. I think I spent most of my life reading. As an adult I began to read less novels and more non fiction. I can't really get into stories, or rather it just doesnt call out to me as much. I love spending time in the library scouring the shelves for metaphysical, occult, art, craft and gardening books. I love a good project so many of the books I read these days are either spiritual in nature or how to  books.

I have a few novels at the top of my list. One of the only fiction works I can really get into is books by the Japanese author, Haruki Murakami. A boy in my art class let me borrow Norweigan Wood back when I was going to school for art many years ago, and I hesitated to read it but I ended up reading it nonstop all the way through and I loved it.

I am also obsessed with train hopping, and I bought every book and documentary on the subject. Its kind of like the all american free spirited travelers dream. I have always wanted to go freight train hopping, its still my #1 thing to do in life, and I love the sound of trains. I can hear them late at night around 1 or 2 am and its so soothing. I must have been some kind of train conductor in a past life. I even looked into going to railroad engineer school. no joke, I love trains.

(oh and I also got some of those old library checkout cards to put in my personal book collection. I even actually used them when loaning books to a friend. i am a library nerd)

ANNNDDD... in other news...I am in a magazine!!! I was told about it many months ago, and I wasn't sure if it was really happening but I got the magazine and sure enough there was my room! I don't really get excited about too much, I have been described as monotone in my speaking and actions but it is pretty cool to be featured in a magazine. I am so grateful to all the friends I have made through this process and I am super lucky to have a little article in a magazine. :)
