I recently purchased Rosemary Gladstar's "Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health", and I have already tried a few recipies. Its a great book for all kinds of salves, tinctures, and other herbal remedies.

In the past I have made my own sugar scrub, but this book had a recipe called "Salt Glow", and it sounded amazing. It made my skin SO soft, even though the scrubbing part kind of hurt. Here is the recipe:

2 cups fine sea salt
4 cups grapeseed, apricot or almond oil
25 drops essential oil of choice

* I bought grapeseed oil in the cooking oil section instead of the beauty section because it was $6 for both, but the cooking grapeseed oil was like 10 times the size. I am not sure of the difference, but it worked well*

1. Place salt in a widemouthed jar and cover with oil. Scent with essential oil of your choice (I used peppermint).

2. Dampen entire body. Using your hands or a loofah mit, vigorously but gently massage the mixture onto your skin. Begin at your feet and work upward in a circular motion. When you have massaged your entire body, rinse with warm water. Finish with a dry towel rub. (I had my boyfriend scrub me down, then I did the same for him, and it was messy. I ended up staining the tile with the oil, so make sure to do it somewhere the oil will not stain, on the grass would be ideal!)

the grapeseed oil gave the scrub a beautiful mint green color!

make sure to do this outside.. its really messy
